Getting Started with Sheets Watch
Overview
Sheets Watch is a powerful Google Sheets Add-on that allows you to easily monitor and track changes in your spreadsheets. With Sheets Watch, you can set up automatic notifications for when specific cell values change, helping you stay on top of important data updates.

Setting Up Your First Tracker
Once your license is activated, you can start setting up trackers:
- Click on the “SheetWatch” menu and select “Add a Tracker”.
- In the sidebar that appears, fill in the following information:
- Range to Watch (Value Range): The cell range you want to monitor (e.g., “Sheet1!C2:C5”).
- Identifier Range (Optional): A corresponding range containing identifiers for your values (e.g., “Sheet1!A2:A5”).
- Email to Notify: The email address where you want to receive change notifications.
- Polling Interval: How often (in minutes) you want Sheets Watch to check for changes.
- Click “Save Tracker” to activate your new tracker.
Managing Your Trackers
To view or remove existing trackers:
- Click on the “SheetWatch” menu and select “Manage Trackers”.
- In the sidebar, you’ll see a list of all your active trackers.
- To remove a tracker, click the “Remove” button next to it.
How It Works
Sheets Watch uses time-driven triggers to periodically check your specified ranges for changes. When a change is detected, it sends an email notification to your specified address with details about what changed.
Limits and Quotas
Sheets Watch operates within the limits of Google Apps Script. Key limitations to be aware of include:
- Triggers can run at most once per minute.
- There are daily quotas for email sends and script runtime.
For the most up-to-date information on quotas, please refer to the Google Apps Script Quotas documentation.
